'Shallowlands' — Mixed Media Landscape on Canvas

The title of this painting refers to the shallow, waterlogged terrain of the Cambridgeshire Fenlands — a landscape that is neither fully land nor fully water, but something in between. The Fens are, in a geological sense, reclaimed land: territory that was once sea or marsh, drained and made productive over centuries of human effort. 'Shallowlands' is an attempt to hold something of this ambiguity in paint.

Mixed Media and Surface
